About Trincomalee
Trincomalee (or "Trinco") is a historic port city on Sri Lanka's northeast coast, boasting one of the world's finest natural deep-water harbors. The city offers a unique blend of pristine beaches, ancient Hindu temples, colonial fortifications, and exceptional marine life. Unlike the south coast, Trincomalee's peak season runs from May to October, making it the perfect east coast complement to a Sri Lankan itinerary.
The star attraction is Pigeon Island National Park, a small island paradise surrounded by crystal-clear waters with some of the best coral reefs and snorkeling in Sri Lanka. Trincomalee is also one of the few places in the world where you can see both blue whales (seasonal) and dolphins. The sacred Koneswaram Temple, perched dramatically on Swami Rock overlooking the ocean, is one of the most important Hindu shrines in Sri Lanka.
